FASHION FORWARD: SPRING 2011

As we all know Fashion week has began and its been incredible. So far, I have seen a lot of strong collections, many wearable pieces that can be worn on the catwalk to the sidewalk. I am really excited for Spring fashion this year! One of my new favorite designers, Christian Cota, designed a amazinggg collection. It is to die for! Christian's pieces excude a whimsical, modern, and sexy feel- The collection is not to serious, but more on the fun flirty side- perfect for a fashionista's wardrobe in the Spring time. Here are my favorite pieces from Christian Cota's collection.

MEN'S FASHION AT THE POLO

The Mercedes- Benz Polo Challenge is one of the Hampton's most exclusive events. The world's greatest equestrians compete each year Bridgehampton Polo Club; yet, spectators' attention is usually booked by the secondary sport present: fashion. The fashion playing field demands high performances from its VIPers. The only uniform fitting for such an occasion is Ralph Lauren, a style that epitomizes the timelessness and exhilarating quality of the match. This weekend, score points wearing one of Ralph Lauren's premier designs.

OBESSION DU JOUR: Slouchy Pants

I have grown to love Slouchy pants over the past few years. This fall they are coming back in full force down the fashion runways. Slouchy pants are going to be the go-to pant! This style is not only smart looking but worn with a plunging neck it definitely creates a sexy laid back look.

How to wear slouchy pants:

Work: tailored white shirt, skinny belt, and booties (or pumps).
Day (casual): t-shirt, leather jacket, ballet slippers, and of course a ladylike bag (ex: Lanvin handbags)
Night: there are many ways you can go, loose fitted tank, silk button-down (unbutton 3-4 buttons), or a rock a corset, strappy sandals, or heavy-duty platform shoes.

OBESSION DU JOUR: Darker Roots and lighter ends

I always admired women's hair color, I truly believe a good color job goes a long way! Since I was 14 years old I started dying my hair (not the greatest thing for me) but I would change hair color like girls change lipstick colors. I went from blonde to black, then black to brown, and now my color is more subtle, just a few blonde hi-lights. I believe less is more. Recently, I noticed a new hair color style; darker roots with lighter ends. Ashlee Simpon- Wentz and Rachel Bilson were recently rocking this look! I think it looks so cool, I feel that anyone can pull this off, especially for blondes in the Fall since we always go a tad darker in the colder seasons. Check out the looks, maybe ask your colorists to put some lighter high-lights at the end of your hair and if you like it go for more! I know this will be my Fall look.

SOCIAL LIFE MAGAZINE - JULY 17TH EDITION

This summer I was asked to do fashion editorials for Social Life Magazine, one of the premier luxury publications for the Hamptons. I wanted to share my editorial piece with all my fellow fashionistas. My recent article was on Boho Glam. I always felt that summer always brings out my Bohemian side by wearing ethic inspired prints,  flowy dresses, and artsy jewelry.

BOHO GLAM
Left picture: ETRO- silk linen plaid blazer with satin floral pants
THE KEY TO BOHO GLAM IS MIXING PRINTS, try a plaid shirt with a tribal print skirt, be creative think outside the "fashion" trends
Middle picture: Matthew Williamson- Chiffon cut-out dress
FLOWY DRESSES WORN WITH ETHNIC JEWELRY IS A GREAT WAY TO SHOW YOUR BOHO GLAM SIDE
Right picture: Ralph Lauren- beaded dress over loose fitting jeans
THIS LOOK IS VERY GYPSY INSPIRED, find a flowy dress you love, can be floral, sequin, or solid and wear it over your jeans.

OBSESSION DU JOUR: RETRO GLAM

Drew Barrymore is always putting funky and outlandish outfits together. She loves to experiment with fashion, there is no boundaries with Drew. She was recently seen in the West Village rocking this floral sundress, lipstick red pumps, and retro sunglasses. I truly love her outfit, her sunglasses change the look of her ensemble by adding a Retro Glam look to her "stepford wives" dress. Step out of the box this summer and create a cool outfit on your own, you don't always have to follow the current trends- just get inspired by them.

THE CHIC THINGS

“The woman who is chic adapts fashion to her own personality.”

OBSESSION DU JOUR: OPEN TOE ESPADRILLE BOOTIES!

If you don't know I am a shoe fanatic, I've never met a shoe I didn't like. The other day I was in Saks on the designer shoe floor, you can't imagine this place is shoe heaven for me--it is so big that is actually has its own zip code! When I  was browsing the sea Louboutin shoes, I stubled about these ESPADRILLE FLANNEL BOOTIE! This shoe combines my two favorite seasons, summer and fall! I really think I have died and gone to shoe heaven. Louboutin is a true shoe genius. After finding this shoe combo I searched online for the same style bootie. I did find similar ones and more affordable, but nothing compare to the CL espadrille. I can't wait to wear these in the Fall with leggins and a chunky knit sweater, the perfect "go-to" ensemble.

OBESSION DU JOUR: The Tie-Dye Dress

I was just shopping on my favorite online boutique OAKNYC.com and I found this tie-dye grey silk shirt dress. The silhoutte makes tie-dye look more modernized. I am OBSESSED, this is the perfect dress for every season especially the summer, its light and easy to wear. Keep it simple for the day with flats (gladiator style) and for night wear platform wedges, chucky necklace, and an oversized clutch. I think I just talked myself into buy this dress, I am ordering it now!

I love the side pockets

The pleating in the back is a perfect finish to the dress.

OBESSION DU JOUR: Floral Skirts

Summer is just around corner and when its hot the last thing you want to wear is black. To brighten up your summer wardrobe try wearing a floral skirt. For work, wear a  high-waisted floral skirt with a nice crisp white button down tucked in and nude color high heel sandals. For the day, wear a floral skirt with a striped t-shirt, denium button, or a loose fitting tank. And for night make it sexy by wearing it with a bustier or a lace top.

Little Fashionista

Today I was on the internet for hours getting my daily dose of fashion and I came across this picture. I am obsessed, this little girl is adorable, but I don't know how I would feel if my daughter was rocking a Chanel bag at such a young age. So cute though!!!

Met Costume Institute Gala 5.3.2010

The Met Costume Institute is one of my favorite events, this is when Hollywood and Fashion come together and rock the red-carpet. The theme of last night's event was "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity."
