Met Costume Institute Gala 5.3.2010

The Met Costume Institute is one of my favorite events, this is when Hollywood and Fashion come together and rock the red-carpet. The theme of last night's event was "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity." It was hosted by Gap and of course all the attendees were A-list celebs wearing pieces from top fashion designers. There were many recurring trends on the red-carpet, from silhouettes to gown color.....here are the trends I noticed from last night:

SIMPLE AND CHIC:

Zoe Saldana and Diane Kruger both in Calvin Klein

Jessica Biel in Ralph Lauren

Jessica Stam in Rachel Roy

RETRO:

   Demi Moore in Lanvin

Sarah Jessica Parker in Halston Heritage

Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs

Champagne, Gold, and Sequins:

Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior

Brooke Shields in Michael Kors

Anne Hathaway in Valentino

Gwen Stefani in L.A.M.B

 Silver with Crystal Embellishments:

Eva Longoria in Marchesa

Maggie Grace in Vera Wang

JLo in Zuhair Murad

 Navy:

Sienna Miller in Emilio Pucci---love it!!!
Abbie Cornish in Louis Vuitton

Oprah in Oscar De La Renta

Peachy:

Kate Bosworth in Valentino (the back of the dress is stunning, it drapes very low)
Mary J. Blige in J. Mendel (this color looks great on her)

Short and Sexy:

Blake Lively in Marchesa (Her legs are insane!)

Gisele in Alexander Wang
